Welcome to Purley CE Primary School
Every day is an open day at our school- to get a true feel of all we have to offer, just email or phone the school to arrange your visit!
Nestled in the heart of Purley Village and just a short stroll from the River Thames, our small village school is a vibrant and welcoming community with a rich history spanning 150 years. Deeply embedded in the local community, we take pride in nurturing strong connections and actively contributing to village life. At Purley CE Primary School, we create a caring and supportive atmosphere where every member of our school family works together, ensuring a happy, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all.
A High-Quality Learning Experience
Recognised as a 'Good' school by both OFSTED (November 2021) and SIAMS (November 2021), we set high standards and expectations for our pupils. Our dedicated and talented staff inspire and motivate children to "Learn to love and love to learn." With class sizes capped at 30 and certain core subjects taught in smaller year group cohorts of no more than 15, we offer a bespoke curriculum tailored to inspire a lifelong passion for learning.
Tradition Meets Innovation
While our school retains its charming, traditional appearance, it blends the old with the new through a modern extension at the rear, featuring bright, spacious classrooms—and even a fun slide! We embrace modern technology, ensuring every Key Stage 2 pupil has access to a Chromebook and iPad. Google Classroom also provides a seamless learning link between school and home, fostering an interactive educational experience.
Our Values and Ethos
As a Church of England school, our core values of love, courage, and wisdom are at the heart of everything we do. These values, rooted in our Christian ethos, guide us in nurturing children who are kind, reflective, and resilient—qualities that will equip them to thrive in the future and tackle life's opportunities, responsibilities, and challenges.
Admissions and Nursery Provision
We currently have spaces available in our Reception and Year 1, with limited spaces in Years 3 and 5. Our popular nursery offers provision for children aged 3 and up, providing up to 15 hours of childcare entitlement from Monday to Friday, 9 am - 12 pm. New pupils can join our nursery in September, January, and April, subject to availability. For more information on nursery places or in-year transfers to other year groups, please contact our school office or contact West Berkshire Admissions.
