Curriculum Intent

History lessons at Purley C of E Primary School are planned to inspire the children to want to know more about the past, about how it has affected their world around them, and to give them a sound knowledge of how to use historical evidence in their studies.

They are encouraged to develop the learning skills of resilience, reflection, risk-taking, collaboration and research, and to use these to further their understanding of the process of change, the diversity of people, societies and relationships, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.

Practical enhancements provide an insight as to the challenges faced in each era, furthering a depth of understanding.
