Why Choose Purley CE Primary School?

At Purley CE Primary School, we believe that every child deserves to thrive in a nurturing, inspiring, and inclusive environment. Nestled in the heart of Purley Village and just a stone’s throw from the River Thames, our small village school offers a unique blend of tradition, innovation, and community spirit—all within a setting that feels like family.

A Warm Welcome Awaits You – Every Day is an Open Day

We warmly invite prospective families to come and see our school in action. Whether you're considering a place in our Nursery or a transfer into another year group, we’d love to show you what makes our school so special. Simply call or email us to arrange a visit—we can’t wait to meet you!

What Makes Purley Special?

A Nurturing Community with 150 Years of Heritage

Our school is more than just a place of learning—it's a vibrant hub at the heart of village life. With a history spanning over 150 years, we are proud of the strong connections we share with our local community. Here, every child is known, valued, and supported to flourish in a close-knit and caring environment.

Outstanding Learning in Small Groups

Rated ‘Good’ by both Ofsted and SIAMS (November 2021), we are committed to delivering high-quality education through small class sizes and personalised teaching. Many of our core subjects are taught in even smaller groups of no more than 15, allowing us to provide a tailored curriculum that builds confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Tradition Meets Innovation

Our school blends the charm of its traditional exterior with a bright, modern extension—complete with spacious classrooms and even a slide! Every Key Stage 2 pupil has access to both a Chromebook or an iPad, and we use Google Classroom to connect learning seamlessly between home and school. We prepare children for the future with confidence and creativity.

Rooted in Christian Values

As a Church of England school, our Christian values of love, courage, and wisdom guide everything we do. We foster a culture of kindness, reflection, and resilience—developing not only academic ability but also preparing children for life’s opportunities and challenges.

From Age 3 up

We offer a teacher-led nursery class for children aged 3+, with places available Monday- Wednesday all day (8.50am- 3.20pm) and Thursday and Friday 8.50-3.20pm. Admissions to this class are available in September, January, and April, depending on availability. We also have spaces in some other year groups—contact us or West Berkshire Admissions to learn more about availability and in-year transfers.

Come and See for Yourself

I’m incredibly proud to lead such a special school community. I would love the opportunity to welcome you and your child to Purley CE Primary School and to show you around our exciting, nurturing learning environment.
