Curriculum Aims

At Purley CE Primary School, we believe learning is a lifelong journey that should be enjoyable, meaningful, and engaging. We recognise that children learn in different ways and are committed to providing an inclusive, inspiring curriculum that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and resilience.

Our curriculum and pedagogy aim to:

  • Make learning engaging, inquiry-led, and rooted in real-life contexts, so pupils make connections.

  • Promote a consistent language of learning, so all pupils benefit from high-quality practice across the school, enabling children and staff to talk confidently about the learning process.

  • Be informed by research, including Rosenshine’s Principles and cognitive science, to support deep understanding and long-term retention.

  • Reflect our school’s Christian values of love, courage and wisdom; recognising our place within the local village and church communities.

  • Encourage reflective practice, professional dialogue, and collaboration among staff to continually improve teaching and learning.

Our goal is to develop independent learners who are ready for the next stage of their education—and life beyond school.
