PE and Sports Premium
The PE and sport premium is government funding provided to primary schools to enhance their physical education (PE) and sports provision. This funding aims to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport, encouraging healthy, active lifestyles among pupils. Schools use this money to make sustainable improvements to their PE, sport, and physical activity offerings, building capacity within the school and ensuring long-term benefits for all pupils.
On this page, we share information about the funding from 2024-2025, how it has been used and the impact. We also share our future plans. If you have any questions about PE or sports at school, please speak to Mrs Holland or our PE subject leader.

CPD Spending
The Physical Education (PE) and Sports Premium Budget aims to enhance the provision of physical education and foster a lifelong love of sport among pupils. Our CPD includes shadowing Sports Coaches from MNR during PE sessions for KS2 pupils, with the goal of developing in-house staff expertise to lead sessions independently. Lunchtime and 1:1 sessions provide further opportunities for staff development. During Sports Week, staff accompanied all activities to observe and adopt effective coaching techniques for use in their own lessons.
External Spending
Our participation in competitions led by the School Games Organiser (SGO) and our local Small Schools Network (SSN) remains a key focus. These events give pupils valuable opportunities to showcase their skills and develop a healthy competitive spirit. To support participation across the academic year, we allocate budget towards transport (utilising a minibus owned by another local primary school) and staffing. This reduces barriers to involvement, enabling as many pupils as possible to take part in competitions that contribute significantly to their emotional, social, and personal development.
Internal Spending
We provide an additional set of swimming sessions in KS2, funded through the PE and Sports Premium, alongside the KS1 sessions funded by FOPS. These ensure pupils have the opportunity to achieve the 25m standard, especially for those without access to swimming outside school.
Rather than a single Sports Week, this year we launched our ‘Summer of Sport’ programme, which included our traditional Sports Day and a wide range of activities. Pupils experienced both locally available sports such as climbing and more unusual opportunities such as VR and Drumba. We also continued to offer a short, active residential for Years 4 and 5, designed to encourage teamwork and introduce outdoor activities such as archery and grass sledding.
Across KS2, pupils also took part in sessions on healthy eating and active lifestyle choices. The replenishment of sports equipment is regularly reviewed to ensure access to high-quality resources. Our membership in the Small School Sports Network further supports inclusive, high-standard sporting opportunities for our pupils.
Next Steps for 2025/2026
In 2025/2026, we aim to offer a wide variety of sports and participate in as many competitions as possible. This will depend on the availability of volunteer minibus drivers and parental support, given our small cohort sizes.
We will continue to promote inclusive best practice, ensuring equal access to high-quality extra-curricular activities and competitive sport for all pupils. Particular focus will be given to increasing girls’ participation, looking ahead to the Lionesses’ football achievements this summer and other notable successes by female athletes. In line with our ‘No Outsiders’ ethos, we will also highlight and learn about neurodiverse and Paralympian athletes throughout the year.
In summary, the effective use of the PE and Sports Premium Budget enables our school to improve the quality of physical education for all pupils, while embedding a culture of health, fitness, and inclusivity.
